So some of the money that used to be invested in annuities will be invested in equities instead. Would anyone like to offer any comments on the scale of the effect on equities prices and when they expect it to happen?

It’s potentially huge @warrantstar. I’ve sat in meetings with fund managers where the issue of under ownership of equities by insurers has been discussed and complained about.

They used to own a lot of the UK stock market but have gradually switched almost exclusively to equities.

the beneficiaries are likely to be the megacaps like Diageo, unilever etc, who are a little cheap right now so it should have the effect of supporting prices long term.
